Production Description

CeaGoo Supplies kinds of C220/C221 steatite ceramic lamp caps, they are widely used in the halogen lamps, iodine-tungsten lamps, high and low pressure uv lamps, mercury lamps and uv lamp holders.


Product Features

Steatite is an inorganic material which mainly consists of magnesium silicate, it exhibits excellent electrical properties as below:

Very good dielectric strength

Resistant to UV radiation

heat resistance and form stability up to 1000 °C

That is why it is usually recommended as an insulation material in electrical engineering, such as low voltage isolators, fuse substrates, terminal beads and conductors.

Typical steatite materials are composed of 58 – 65 % SiO2, 26 – 32 % MgO, 3 – 6 % Al2O3, 1,3 % Na2O (for C 220), and 7 % BaO (for C 221).

Steatite is sintered at approx. 1300 °C. to retain stable surfaces, steatite also can be glazed.

Production Technology

Hot pressing (Slip casting)

Working Principle:

Mix the material powder, water and wax by the special ratio to get the final raw material, then press the raw material into the mold, the pressure is about 10-20kg. Since the material has been mixed with wax, so it will turn into a solid quickly during the process of pressing, we call the solid green body. The green bodies need to remove the wax first before the final sintering. Because if the wax hasn’t been removed fully, the bodies are easy to be cracked when final sintering.

Advantages:

1. Can form the items which have complicated sharp, but not applicable to the big size.

2. The tooling cost is lower, can be controlled under 300USD per set.

3. No highly request for the qty., also available for the small volume.

Disadvantage:

1. Not applicable to the thick products since the wax removing will be hard to be made.

2. Will have a longer lead time, since the wax removing process leads to more reworking.

3. The production capacity depends on the workers and molds.


Note: Slip casting also have an automate production option, just has much higher mold cost and high request on the quantity.
